Might not look much brighter, but it definitely looks less diffused, which should equate to better visibility.

You mentioned in other posts that even with the HIDs you aren't getting much light output. Is it possible the headlights aren't getting full voltage? Since the car has projectors, it should be plenty bright enough with HIDs(and focused properly) to pass inspection one would think.

I think the issues are partially the obscured lenses (work in progress) and partially the hemispherical inner lenses over the dips, which look translucent rather than transparent. I only put in the HIDs because the regular bulbs didn’t do much, only to find them no better.

We’ll see. Next step is to do the passenger one and see how it looks at night. Then try my new supposedly brighter conventional bulbs.

I did mine with wet sandpaper, 400, 600, 800, 1200, 1500, and 2500. then clearcoated. so far so good. They were yellowed and damaged so I took a lot of material off. Used no polish. Just because Honda fit that’s already 3 different shades of taffeta white.

Those look blue, you might try a whiter bulb. Higher K.

Saw one that colour on my street last year. Just guessing that you also spell colour with a “u”.

Other than Japan of course nearly all FTOs are in places where they spell in English!

I got a kit which provided 800, 1500, 2000 and 3000 followed by a polishing compound and a polishing disc to go with it.

Huge improvement. That before makes me uncomfortable.

You did it the right way. I polished mine with Meguiars plastic polish as the final step and cleat coated. They have lasted 2 years so far. If you really want them to last I think using a clear with a 2k hardener would be awesome.

oh yeah, “real” 2k urethane clear. (disclosure I’m a bodyman with access to the good stuff. However I used 5-star extreme clear, it’s cheap and awesome.

English though, not ‘murican. Or is the FTO forbidden friut there? I know a guy with a figaro, and there are tons of japanese imports here, enough that you could find a number of wrecked skylines in the back alleys.

They’re only allowed cars more than 25 years old and the FTO began in 1994 so yes, forbidden there.

Used to be a common sight, only a handful left. Rust will do that for you.

Unless you want to do it all over again in a couple months, you really should follow Dash-doorhandle-and-bondo ’ s route and finish with a clear UV-resistant spray. I learned the hard way, but you don’t have to. Any hardware store or Amazon carries a selection of clear coats with UV inhibitors approved for use on plastics, which will keep your headlights from re-fogging or yellowing for a couple years at least. Always glad to see a Mitsubishi getting a new life, seems like too few survivors left over here, keep up the good work.!
